China, Ming Era (1368-1644)

Finely modeled Sancai glazed pottery altar table from the Ming dynasty, in every detail. The table is set with several offering plates. The offerings are meticulously rendered, with engraved detail and bright ochre, green and brown pigment. Such terracotta arrangements would have been made for burial purposes, buried with the deceased in the belief that they could enjoy their favorite foods in the afterlife. Ming era China.

China Republican Era (1912-1946)

Pair of Guanyin sculptures in Dehua porcelain "blanc de chine". The two mirror figures of the goddess of compassion resting on bases of flowers and lotus plants, like what they hold in one of their hands, are depicted with a serene expression, robes full of rich drapery and rich in detail. China era of the Republic (1912-1949)

Jar in green glazed terracotta, the lid represents the five sacred mountains, the path between earth and paradise, Mount Bo and Mount Kunlun, two sacred Taoist mountains, which evokes the journey of the dead to the immortal kingdoms. In the central band a scene of animals in the mountains.
